Purpose Statement
The main purpose of this program is to ensure success for all new teachers and principals in Canton Union School District #66. The program targets teachers holding Initial Teaching Licenses, teachers new to the district, and principals new to the district. On request from the teacher and/or an administrator, this program will be provided for teachers with new teaching or building assignments.

1st Year Protege Activity GuideNew Staff Orientation Meeting (1st year proteges only)
- Meet with District Leadership. - Meet with Union Leadership. - New Staff Luncheon. - Meet with Curriculum Director at New Staff Orientation Day. 1st Quarter Tasks
- Meet with mentor on an August Institute Day. - Watch and reflect on the following Classroom Management Video from TeachingChannel.org. - Meet with Curriculum Director and other proteges- email invitation will be sent with date, time and location. 2nd Quarter Tasks
- Watch and reflect on the following Observation Video from TeachingChannel.org. - Videotape a lesson and reflect on your own- use your phone or request equipment from Curriculum Director. - Observe and reflect on a lesson by your mentor or other recommended teacher. Take notes of what you observed and bring to 3rd Quarter Protege meeting with Curriculum Director. 3rd Quarter Tasks
- Watch and reflect on the following Differentiated Instruction Video from TeachingChannel.org. - Meet with Curriculum Director and other proteges- email invitation will be sent with date, time and location. 4th Quarter Tasks
- Observe and reflect on a lesson by your mentor or other recommended teacher. - Complete and turn in electronic Induction Program Evaluation. - Have a great and restful summer! |
